Lebanon is facing one of the most severe phases of this escalation yet. Since 2 March, Israeli attacks and ground operations have killed around 4,300 people, injured around 12,200, and forced more than 1.2 million people from their homes. Israel has continuously bombarded densely populated areas, putting medical facilities and vital infrastructure under severe strain. Shelters remain overwhelmed, and many displaced families are still living in schools, tents, vehicles and inadequate temporary accommodation.
Lebanon is once again facing devastating violence and instability.
Recent Israeli airstrikes have struck multiple areas across the country, including vast areas of the South, Beirut and surrounding regions, as well as Palestinian Baddawi Refugee Camp in the North, killing civilians, injuring many others, and forcing families to flee their homes with little warning. Entire neighbourhoods have been affected, leaving communities living with fear, displacement, and uncertainty.
This escalation comes at a time when Lebanon is already enduring one of the worst economic crises in its history. Years of financial collapse, rising poverty, and failing infrastructure have left millions struggling to afford even the most basic necessities.
For many families, the current situation is pushing an already fragile reality even further into crisis.
Across the country, displacement is rising, shelters are filling, and access to food and essential services is becoming increasingly difficult.
For many Australians, this crisis is deeply personal. Australia is home to one of the largest Lebanese diasporas in the world, and families here are watching events unfold while worrying for their relatives and loved ones.

Beyond emergency relief, Feed the World has been working to strengthen long term support for vulnerable communities in Lebanon.
Our Soboul Al Salam Medical Center, located near Baddawi Camp in Tripoli, is currently under construction and will soon begin serving the surrounding community.
The centre is being developed to provide accessible medical care for families who struggle to access affordable health services, including many Palestinian and Lebanese families living in and around the camp.
At a time when Lebanon’s healthcare system is under enormous strain, this facility will help provide essential treatment and support to thousands of people in the area.
This project joins our growing portfolio of health projects in Lebanon, including Al Hamidy Hospital and another upcoming Medical Center.
